Bet the Blue and Gray: Helping UConn Some Money Out of Vegas

Who’s up for a Happy Meal? Let Bet the Blue and Gray help fund tonight’s celebration of Aminu Mohammed being the first McDonald’s All-American Hoya since 2008!

The Team 54-73 (+4.49u)

  1. John 7-18 (+1.82u) 👑
  2. Bobby 18-21 (+1.76u)
  3. Armen 15-17 (+0.92u)
  4. Jake 14-17 (-0.01u)

To be blunt – there’s a reason John’s had the crown emoji there since Aminu Mohammed faded his pick and committed to the Hilltop – he’s been a force. Vegas is terrified. They’re adjusting lines overnight to stop this kid, but there’s nothing they can do. To be completely honest, his performance as of late has to rival some of the biggest upsets known to man. Bigger than Team USA over the USSR, Rocky over Drago, Manning over Brady, hell, even UMBC over Virginia. He’s our leader and king whether we like it or not. With that being said, UConn’s in town, so let’s see what our lordship has in store for us.

Georgetown basketball has covered the spread in five of their last six games. They have also hit the over in four of their last five games. The bookies may catch on at some point, but here’s to hoping the Hoyas keep flying under the radar. Act like trap bets don’t exist and ride with the trends.

Update: The O/U shifted hard to 141 since grabbing this bet, so clearly we are professional sharps.

I’m sad. My Hoyas are winning, but I’m not. My fall from the top of the leaderboard early in the season to rock bottom can be likened to the career of Trent Richardson. A two-time BCS National Champion, #3 overall pick, who nine years later plays for the -record scratch- Caudillos de Chihuahua?? It is a tough pill to swallow, but times like these remind me why I got into sports betting in the first place. It was never about the money. I was driven by the thrill. But in the words of the legendary B.B. King, “The Thrill is Gone.”

A wise man named Thomas Joyce (no relation to author James Joyce) once said, “You need a deficit for comeback.” Do not call it a comeback just yet. Georgetown is trending in the right direction. Don’t overthink it. Plus, who doesn’t love an over?

Oh boy. Here we go. Let me get one thing off my chest: I am truly ashamed to see that the kid who had the clown emoji next to his name for about two months because of his inability to hit 50/50 bets is now on top of the leaderboard. As a proud member of this column, I am utterly speechless and truly sorry to think that this is what the column has come to. To all of our devout fans, I promise to do better.

Now that I’m done with that, let me tell you the story of a rabbit on TikTok that was making picks during the NFL season. I would trust my life with that rabbit picking a game more than John. Let me just remind you that we were winning bets by simply fading that man prior to the COVID pause. He may call this a comeback story, but in all honesty this is the equivalent of there being a photo finish in a 100-yard dash because Bobby, Jake, and I all tore our ACL’s at the finish line. But I digress.

So now onto the more pressing issue: today’s game. To start with the obvious, I’m throwing it back and pulling a John, while also fading John. Betting one unit -2000 to make a solid .05 while also betting on John to go down once again? Has there ever been such a big lock? Now as for the actual game, guess what, I’M DRINKING THE DAMN KOOL AID. They say locks don’t exist. Well they’re lying to you. My friends, this is a lock and better yet, John isn’t betting on it. I hate betting on trends, but there is simply nothing this team can’t do right now and that includes covering spreads. All I can say is, James Bouknight who?

P.S. I’m starting a petition to get the clown emoji put back next to John’s name. You can do everyone a favor and sign it here: http://chng.it/pC6HDGXNnM

If you’re reading this, welcome to KingJohn’sPicks.com, and thanks for subscribing to my premium picks. I know it’s easy to go online and search for the best daily bets from hacks like that kid Armen, but you were smart enough to realize nothing’s free in this world, and for that I’d like to congratulate you. Hey, you want the good stuff, you’ve got to be prepared to fork over some cash. Here’s my PREMIUM analysis for today’s board:

Look, last game, I told you I had no idea who was going to win, so I just took the over because the Hoyas have been scoring since returning from their pause. Well, I’m doing it again.

In fact, the over is 5-1 in the Hoyas’ last six games overall, with only the disastrous Creighton home game hitting the under. Georgetown could very easily win this game with the momentum they have behind them at the moment. At the same time, it’s still Georgetown, and they could go cold and allow James Bouknight to drop forty points on them tonight. So with that being said, your royal highness is riding with the first half and total over. Somebody’s gonna score, I’m just not confident enough in either side to pick which one scores more. See you all at the top.
