Bet the Blue and Gray: Staying Up For Georgetown’s Thanksgiving Spectacular Against SDSU

“Wooden” we like a win. Learn how to bet the Aztecs/Hoya showdown tonight out in The Golden State by reading the newest Bet the Blue and Gray. Word on the street is that if we make enough money, we will purchase Syracuse’s entire campus and raze it.

The Team 2-6 (+0.37)

  2. Jake 1-1 (+0.82u)
  3. Kole 0-1 (-1.00u)
  4. Bobby 0-2 (-2.00u)

Oh no, we suck again! Except for Armen; he pulled through a clutch 5 unit win on the Hoyas even though everybody else had doubts. In the first of two games in the California Republic, Georgetown will face its first high quality opponent of the season (besides Dartmouth who will probably make the Elite 8). Let the best bets commence!

I am obsessed with emotionally hedging. It may be the only thing keeping me sane. So, please give me a San Diego San State to cover the spread in addition to a sprinkle of their moneyline. My ULTRA GOBBLE GOBBLE THANKSGIVING BET OF THE MILLENIUM will have to be the over here as well. There are two reasons to support my genius. First, Georgetown has shot 66.1% from the charity stripe and there is no doubt that number will rise. Second, the Aztecs have only gone 24.6% from beyond-the-arc and there is no way this quality San Diego State team shoots it that poorly (especially against the Hoya’s perimeter defense).

Objectively, these bets are not logical. Yes, the Hoyas have looked much better in their past two wins, but to say they are ready to compete with a top 40 team that has plenty of college basketball experience is quite the stretch. Nonetheless, this will be a great litmus test for Dante Harris and Don Carey to show us what they’re made of. It’s Thanksgiving though, a day for celebrating family. How can I not back my boys here? Imagine if we get hot from three and Tim stays out of foul trouble… Admittedly, it will be a battle to fend off that late night turkey tryptophan and stay awake for a midnight tip-off, but a Georgetown win (or at least a competitive game) will be the gravy on top on a day filled with love, food, and sports. What more can you ask for?

Georgetown +5.5 1u

I’ve decided that I truly have no clue what to expect from this team. The Hoyas covered in their last two and they’re playing a team that they match up a little too well against so for the first time in a long time I almost feel like this line is a trap in Georgetown’s favor. Who in their right mind is betting on a (I’m sorry I have to say this) HORRIBLE team to cover 5.5 point spread against a top 40 team according to Kenpom? I mean, there’s no reason for the spread to be that low. My youth CYO team could probably beat Georgetown by 6 points. I know Vegas always knows, but right now they’re screaming at you to take SDSU. As we know when Vegas tells you one thing, confidently run away, so give me the Hoyas. Give me the points. End. Of. Story.

At first glance, I was shocked that Vegas only gave SDSU 5 points against Georgetown. The public pounced, and the line has since moved to +8. I’ll reluctantly throw a half unit on that, only because the Aztecs have been playing their competition close. SDSU barely beat a UTA squad (a team who put up a measly 36 points in a blowout loss at North Texas) by six. The Aztecs have yet to play in a game resulting in a total higher than 133.5 points scored, but Georgetown’s defense has resembled a block of Swiss cheese against inferior opponents. Who knows? We’ll know a lot more about Georgetown after this game, and my future units will increase. I promise.
