Transfer Madness: Tracking Big East Departures and Arrivals

With the NCAA expected to vote later this month to allow all transfer students immediate eligibility (as opposed to sitting out for a year first), thousands (literally!) of student athletes are looking for a change in scenery. As of April 5, there are close to 1,200 players in the transfer portal. This is already a record high, and the number will only grow as we get closer to the preseason. So how has this transfer epidemic affected Georgetown and the Big East as a whole?

These lists will not include seniors, unless they have chosen to use their extra year of eligibility given to them by the NCAA due to COVID-19. In addition, we’ll track notable players within the conference who have declared for the NBA draft and appear unlikely to return to college. All information below has been sourced from Verbal Commits.

Information current as of April 16, 12:05 PM ET

Georgetown

IN: C/F Tre King (Jr): Georgetown

OUT:

C Qudus Wahab (So): Maryland

The transfer of Qudus Wahab was both surprising and disappointing for many Hoya fans, including myself, but unfortunately it is now confirmed that Q is on his way to College Park. Since Wahab’s announcement, Patrick Ewing and the staff have been very active in the transfer portal. Below are some of the confirmed names that the Hoyas have been in contact with:
