Hoyas Going On COVID Pause, Three Games Postponed

This is a developing story. This post will be updated as more news come in.

Tonight’s game against DePaul has been cancelled due to COVID issues within the Georgetown program. In a statement, Georgetown Athletics said that “[n]o makeup dates have been announced.”

Matt Norlander, a college basketball analyst with CBS Sports reported that it is expected the next three Georgetown games will be postponed.

Those games would have been tonight vs DePaul, Jan. 16 at Providence, and Jan. 20 at Marquette.

We will update this post as more information comes in. Here’s to hoping those affected recover quickly and come out fully healthy.

UPDATE #1:

On Jan. 14, the Big East officially announced that the Hoyas’ two upcoming games against Providence and Marquette have been postponed.

In a release, Georgetown also confirmed that the pause is due to a positive COVID-19 test within Tier 1 personnel. According to the NCAA, Tier 1 personnel includes “student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and physical therapists, medical staff, equipment staff and officials.”
