I’m sick of losing. Here we are supposed to be making all of our hundreds and thousands of loyal readers infinite money, and somehow we are burning cash faster than we can bet it. There are no excuses. I hereby declare that today we get back on track. This very moment, I am entering the lab- a deep dive unlike the likes of any you have ever seen before. Units will be flying today, so buckle up because things are about to get funky.

After some vigorous number-crunching, I’d like to present to you some bets with shocking value only available from your Bet the Blue and Gray professionals. The following statistics only account for conference games to best predict how things will go tonight. First off, Georgetown has only been the first to score in 1 of the 5 Big East contests, so lock in Butler to Score First at -120. Second, the first shot has been a make in 3 of the last 5 games, so sharpie First Shot of the Game Made +125. You’ll also want to snag Georgetown First to 10 Points +120 because that has hit in 3 of 5. Similarly, First to 20 and 40 have both cashed in the last 3 of 5, so lock in the value there. A sneaky good bet is the Half Time/Full Time: Georgetown/Butler +550 because Georgetown has led in the first half but lost the game in 3 of 5 as well (tons of value at +550 as well).

Georgetown’s differential against opponents in the first half of games has been +13, +2, -11, -14, and +16. Notice that only one of these games managed to be within single-digits. I am shocked by the value of some of these margins and will take double-digit first half margin totals for Georgetown because that has occurred in 3 of the last 5. You can also throw in the Georgetown 1st Half moneyline for good measure. In other news, all of Georgetown’s Big East Games have had both teams scoring at least 60 points, so add that to my card as well, please. My final bet of the night will be on the Largest Lead of the Game Over 14.5. We have all seen how volatile the scores during Georgetown games have been thus far, and at times our blown leads have looked as bad as the Atlanta Falcons. But, what you most likely don’t realize is that 4 of the 5 Big East games have had largest leads of at least 18, an astoundingly high number (and some of these leads have ironically been in our favor, too). Make that your last pick and sit back to a hefty personal board of rational but wild bets.

Wow. The Bet the Blue and Gray team is starting to mimic the Hoya’s struggles. I suppose that is the nature of this business. The year is young; our bankrolls are fresh. This no time to lay down and roll over. Hopeful Georgia Senator, Georgetown alumnus, and noted college basketball fan John Ossof appears to be on the path to victory. Perhaps he is the impetus in starting a positive wave for all things Georgetown. Let’s get down to the nuts and bolts. Both teams come into this game struggling mightily. With Butler boasting only two wins and a slew of injuries, I’m not too worried about the talent disparity. With each team shooting under 48% from two-point range, I’m not exactly concerned about a high-powered offense putting up major points. The only way either team competes in many games is through the three-point line, however with both teams shooting below 37% from three, I’ll take my chances. The Hoyas also don’t get to the charity strip enough, while Butler shoots an abysmal 61.2% from the line. Neither team has been good all season in generating turnovers, so I’m predicting a good old fashion Big East slugfest. Undefeated in the Hinkle Fieldhouse in the Patrick Ewing Era, I expect to at least see some life out of our squad. I can’t forecast a win with certainty, but a 4.5-point win appears too tall a task for Butler. I am betting against the Bulldogs here and hoping for a slow paced and downright ugly game. Let’s get hot!!

Okay, let’s just say I’m not entirely back. You’ll probably agree with me, but that last game was not fun to watch. Maybe it was the fact that I wasn’t completely in my zone while making my picks or that I didn’t fade John, but I am proud to say that I didn’t completely whiff. But with that being said, I would like to IMPLORE  Division I athletes to learn how to make one singular free throw. Like it amazes me that these kids are getting their college education paid for because they are supposedly good at putting some orange leather ball through a metal hoop, but they can’t make a singular open shot from a mere 15-feet from the basket to cover my spread. Yes, I am talking about you, Mr. Justin Lewis. I would like you to know that I am what you would call “horrible at basketball”, but me and my career 8% free throw make percentage still would have made one of those shots. But I digress.

Today’s game may make or break not only the season, but also my mental state and bank account. Let me be blunt: Butler sucks. Okay, okay that may be a little harsh considering I root for arguably the worst team in the Big East, but let’s just say Butler is not the best from what I’ve seen. With a banged up Aaron Thompson, I have no clue what to expect from the Bulldogs, but without him being 100%, my gut is telling me their already mediocre offense may struggle a bit. Of course, the Hoyas would even have trouble stopping John, who might be a worse basketball player than me, from scoring, But in all honesty, I feel relatively confident getting some points here. In other words, this is the Hoyas’ game to win.

More importantly, I feel most comfortable betting on those early game props. When I see free money, I take it so I would put my entire tuition on Georgetown being ahead after the first half, but my parents might have something to say about that so let’s stick to 1u. If you’ve watched any Georgetown basketball games this season, you’d know that the first half is where this team shines. We know the Hoyas like to come out of the gates hot, so Bobby, I’m going to take a page out of your somewhat genius playbook (your prior bets tell me I should do otherwise, but I like the plays today). If they can lead Villanofun by 13 at the half, there is no reason they can’t smack around the Butler Bulldogs for 20 minutes. All bets are off after halftime, but this, my friends, is where we make our money back. To be fair, all we need is a couple of Jahvon Blair threes, a Qudus post hook, and a nice Bryce Nze turnover so my crystal ball is feeling good today. I may get burned time and time again for saying this, but I truly have faith today so please don’t screw it up, again. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to turn the tide and make some money.

Well, that sucked again. In the words of Moneyball, “Nobody reinvents this game”. That’s the motto I have to start to live by when it comes to digging myself out of a -8 unit hole. With Georgetown deciding to suddenly play (first-half) defense against Marquette, the typical high-scoring Hoyas just wrecked any plans I had to start the new year off right. However, with Georgetown holding a 5-1 record all time at Hinkle Fieldhouse with an electric win there last season, I like the Hoyas to cover and score big tonight. With the Hoyas currently shooting an average 34.8% from three-point territory and averaging 73.6 points per game, I like them to continue to carry these statistics into Indiana and take care of business. Believe it or not, there actually is a team with a worse record than your 3-6 Hoyas, and it indeed is the 2-6 Butler Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have a few just plain terrible losses, with blowouts at the hands of Villanova and Providence and a home loss to Southern Illinois (!). I’m forcing the hex out of existence and I’m no longer predicting a score. Just give me the Hoyas to cover and a high scoring affair in Hinkle.
