Aminu Mohammed Named a McDonald’s All-American

Georgetown has one of the top recruiting classes in the country for the class of 2021, and today one member of that class just added another accolade to put on his shelf.

Aminu Mohammed was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, making the cut to the final roster of 24 players from across the country out of thousands of nominations. The McDonald’s All-American Game is the all-star game for high school basketball players, and being selected to the roster is a prestigious honor reserved for elite basketball players, many of whom are often blue-chip recruits. Although the game is not happening this year due to the pandemic, the honor of being selected to the roster remains the same.

Aminu Mohammed is the cornerstone of Georgetown’s vaunted recruiting class, which is currently ranked 6th in the nation according to Rivals. Over the past two years, Mohammed has averaged 34 points and 17 rebounds per game. He’s also become his high school’s boy’s basketball all-time career scoring leader, with over 2,612 points so far.

Aminu Mohammed is the first Georgetown commit to be selected as a McDonald’s All-American since Greg Monroe in 2008.

In addition, Ryan Mutombo was also nominated for the game. Despite not getting the nod, he’s put together a strong senior season, being named to the All-Region First Team as well as notching 1,500 career points in high school.

With the selection, Mohammed has notched another honor in a long list of them in his high school career. With Mohammed and the rest of Georgetown’s recruiting class of 2021, the future is looking bright on the Hilltop.
